Inner Tracking

This morning I woke up and felt a little funky. I was mystified. I had no reason to feel this way. Shortly thereafter I felt drawn to take my bike to a small beach area along the Main river. I sometimes visit this little patch of land to track animals that go there to have a drink. When I arrived, construction had started to turn the place into a more family friendly recreational area. The brook that had meandered into the Main was streamlined. Trenches to access the river safely for kids were dug out with heavy machinery. I leaned against a large Maple tree overlooking the place. Suddenly I felt a deep sadness that didn´t come from me. It was the land that emanated a collective energy of mourning and regret. I let the sadness flow through me, acknowledging the invasive actions performed here without including the spirit of the place. It didn´t last long. As soon as some tears were shed, some incense offered, the energy changed back to peaceful presence. Nature doesn´t cling to the traumata inflicted on it, especially when acknowledged. In Nature Connection work this process is called "inner tracking". The energies of the trees and insects don´t leave any visible footprints. They manifest themselves as energy that we can pick up on intuitively. Humans can help move the process along. This way, we can turn from helpless observer to active supporter. This is what we originally came here for. To support nature in moving through the flow of life.
